Child Safety Standards

1. Our Commitment
MySide is committed to protecting children and maintaining a safe environment for all users. We have zero tolerance for content that exploits, endangers, or harms minors. These standards are designed to comply with applicable child-safety laws, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the UK Online Safety Act 2023, the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), and relevant national child-protection statutes. Suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is reported to the U.S. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline and to the appropriate authorities in other jurisdictions.
2. Minimum Age
You must be at least 13 years old to create a MySide account (16 in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and other regions where a higher minimum age applies). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the minimum age. If we learn that an account was created by or for someone below the required age, we will delete the account and any associated data, as required by COPPA and equivalent laws.
3. Prohibited Content
We do not allow any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers children. This includes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming or solicitation of minors, content that encourages self-harm among minors, non-consensual sharing of a child's intimate images, and the sharing of a child's personal, contact, or location information. Posting, sharing, or linking to any of this material will result in immediate account termination, preservation of evidence where required by law, and a report to NCMEC and the appropriate authorities.
4. Reporting Child Safety Concerns
If you encounter content or behavior that endangers a child, report it immediately. You can use the Report option on any post or profile, or use the button below to submit a dedicated child safety report. We prioritize child safety reports and act on them as quickly as possible. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Reports may also be made directly to the NCMEC CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or to your local child-protection authority.
5. Privacy of Minors
We do not knowingly collect more information from minors than is necessary to provide the service, and we do not use minors' data for targeted advertising. Minors should not share personal details such as full name, address, school, or location. Parents and guardians who believe their child has provided us personal data may request its deletion; we will process such requests in accordance with COPPA, the GDPR, and the UK Data Protection Act.
6. Safety Features & Parental Guidance
MySide provides tools such as private profiles, blocking, content reporting, and community moderation. Under the UK Online Safety Act and the EU DSA, we apply a child-centered approach to safety features and maintain age-appropriate protections. We encourage parents and guardians to discuss online safety with young users, set appropriate privacy preferences, and report any concerning content. Community owners are responsible for keeping their communities safe and removing material that violates these standards.
7. Enforcement
Violations of this policy may result in content removal, permanent account suspension, preservation of evidence for law enforcement, and reports to NCMEC or other child-protection agencies. We reserve the right to act on credible reports and to take down content proactively, as permitted by the DSA and similar laws, even when a violation has not been formally reported.
8. Transparency & Changes to This Policy
We may update these Child Safety Standards from time to time to reflect changes in the law, best practices, and the services we offer. Continued use of MySide after changes means you accept the updated standards. Significant changes affecting child users will be communicated in accordance with applicable law.
